An Open Letter to the One at the End of a Long Day

Dear You,

Your day may have been long. Your day may have been hard. Your day may have just been weird (oh, wait, am I raising my hand on that one?).

But here’s the good news: it’s almost done.

This is the home stretch, baby. Sorry I called you baby.

Dig deep. You can do this. Or maybe you can’t, and that’ll be okay too. Give it your best whack and know that bed time is just around the corner. And you know what the best thing about bedtime is? It’s a hard stop on the things you can try to bully yourself into doing. Also, you get to go to sleep—pretty much the best thing ever.

So here you go. I’m giving you this bout of encouragement and a picture of Trigger looking angelic—and most importantly asleep. This is your future.

Now up you get. You’re almost there. Finish strong. But if you can’t finish strong today, at least know that sooner or later today will be finished.

Yours in the belief that we’re almost there—at least for today,

Marian
